Certification Course Description
Fibromyalgia is a condition
characterized by chronic pain in the muscles and soft tissue surrounding the
joints. There are eighteen specific pain points utilized in the diagnosis of
fibromyalgia.
In this class you will learn detailed
information about the disease, including its diagnosis, symptoms and how massage
has been proven to provide relief.
The 18 specific pain points will be
taught, along with numerous separate methods for treating each point. You can
incorporate any or all of these techniques into your massage sessions to provide
relief.
The techniques you will learn are
excellent bodywork techniques for all clients, even those without fibromyalgia.
You will learn both a passive and an active technique for neuromuscular
reeducation, for commonly tense muscles including the trapezius and rhomboids,
cervical muscle groups, gluteus maximum, and others. You will also learn to
alleviate PMS with reflexology, and a technique for relieving TMJ syndrome, both
common side-effects in fibromyalgia.
You will also learn other techniques to
teach your fibromyalgia patients, including relaxation methods, aromatherapy
