My loved one has fibromyalgia, but I am not a certified massage therapist. Will I be able to use the techniques on this video?

While the video was designed by a massage therapist with other massage therapists in mind, the information is understandable by lay people. You might need to watch it and practice in front of the TV, but your loved one won’t mind!! If your loved one has chronic pain, and either can’t tolerate massage or there is no therapist in the area that works with fibromyalgia, you can use this information to improve the quality of her life. The video is not limited to bodywork techniques, but also covers stretching, relaxation methods, and aromatherapy. Any or all of these techniques should benefit your loved one, and by extension, benefit you.

How will this information enable me to help fibromyalgia patients?

You have probably noticed that some fibromyalgia patients prefer and can handle a routine, deep-tissue massage. For those patients, your usual routine should be fine. However, many patients are unable to handle very much pressure at all. This is where these techniques come in handy. Rather than using force to flatten and smooth out a muscle, we use finesse to get the body’s own responses to release the muscle tension. These methods work well for muscle tension from any cause, fibromyalgia, sports, injuries, or life in general.

How many CEU’s does this course provide?

16

What agencies have approved the course?

Massage Video Sales is approved by the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Bodywork (NCBTMB) for continuing education under Category A. What is the difference between getting the video and taking the certification course?

With the course, you get the video and student manual, documentation for practice sessions, and a written exam. With the video, you get the knowledge. With the certification course, you get the knowledge, 16 CEU’s, and the right to advertise that you are certified in fibromyalgia.

What type of practice sessions are required in the home study course?

You do a body mapping session on two different volunteers, and three practice sessions using the techniques on the video. Two of the practice sessions can be done at the same time as the body mapping. Body mapping generally takes about 10-15 minutes, and is simply charting the areas that have muscle tension. It is very common in fibromyalgia so that patients can monitor their progress.
